Variety Revived.

The variety show is back from its languishing in the ‘90’s+, perhaps fueled by the renewed interest in musicals over the last 5+ years (e.g., High School Musical, Glee) or based simply on talent. Enter Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, one of the few performers today who can pull off such virally entertaining shorts. Or perhaps its Lorne Michaels, the long-time producer of Saturday Night Live and now the producer of The Tonight Show, who will single-handedly bring back such entertainment, having also produced the recent The Maya Rudolph Show that brought together a host of talented performers. Joseph Gordon Levitt also created a variety show format through his hitRECord collaborative artist community, drawing artists of all kinds to contribute.
